Shared Mission and Collaboration: The Greater Newton Area Chamber of  Commerce, Newton Main Street, and the City of Newton Community Marketing are committed to promoting Newton as a vibrant, thriving community. Together, these  organizations work to attract residents, businesses, and visitors by organizing events, sharing information, and  fostering economic and community growth. Collaboration allows them to amplify their collective impact,  leveraging resources and expertise to benefit Newton.

Individual Focuses 

Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce

Core Mission: To enhance the success of businesses and non-profits in Newton and the surrounding areas  through education, promotion, and networking opportunities. The Chamber is committed to supporting  economic growth and improving the quality of life in Newton. 

Focus Areas: 

• Building Networks – Advocating for business interests and connecting members with resources through  local, county, regional, and state partnerships. 

• Growth & Development – Providing educational and strategic resources to help businesses thrive,  including assistance with business plans, succession planning, and expansion. 

• Community Engagement – Promoting events and activities that drive economic and community growth.
 

Newton Main Street

Core Mission: To preserve history, invest in the future, and build community pride in the Main Street District,  which includes downtown Newton and Legacy Plaza, through public-private partnerships, volunteerism, and  community engagement. 

Focus Areas: 

• Economic Vitality – Strengthening the economic base of the downtown district by identifying market  opportunities, supporting business growth, and encouraging the reuse of vacant spaces. 

• Design – Enhancing the district's physical character, including historic preservation, building  maintenance, and public space improvements.

• Organization – Building a sustainable, volunteer-driven organization through fundraising, stakeholder  engagement, and leadership development. 

• Promotion – Positioning the district as the community's social and economic hub, fostering pride, and  attracting visitors through events and marketing initiatives. 
 

City of Newton Community Marketing

Core Mission: To lead the development and execution of strategic marketing, branding, and communication  efforts that engage citizens, attract visitors, and enhance Newton's reputation as an exceptional place to live,  work, and visit. 

Focus Areas: 

• Serve as the official source of city news through news releases, website updates, and social media  posts on platforms such as Get to Know Newton. 

• Increase engagement with residents and visitors by highlighting city initiatives, services, and events. 

• Strengthen Newton's public perception through targeted marketing campaigns and consistent  messaging.

CIRAS

The Center for Industrial Research and Service was created in 1963 to improve the quality of life in Iowa by helping businesses and their communities thrive. Their individually tailored strategy Engage. Educate. Embed. means that they work with companies to fashion solutions specific to their individual needs.

DMACC Business Resources

DMACC Business Resources provides skills training, talent development and business consulting including needs assessment, customized training, ongoing coaching and funding.

Jasper County Economic Development 

Jasper County Economic Development Corporation (JEDCO) is the economic development arm of the county. They are available to answer questions, help with research and data gathering, assist with site selection, and connect businesses with incentives and programs that can help them to succeed in our county. They are a one-stop-shop for information and resources in Jasper County.

Greater Des Moines Partnership

The Greater Des Moines Partnership is the economic and community development organization that serves 12 counties in Greater Des Moines (DSM), Iowa: Adair, Clarke, Dallas, Guthrie, Jasper, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Polk, Poweshiek and Warren. Together with more than 400 Investors and an Affiliate Chamber of Commerce network of more than 6,700 Regional Business Members, The Partnership drives economic growth and talent development to advance quality of life in DSM with one voice, one mission and as one region. Through innovation, strategic planning and global collaboration, The Partnership grows opportunity, helps create jobs and promotes DSM as the best place to build a business, a career and a future.

Iowa Workforce Development

Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) is a state agency committed to providing employment services for individual job seekers and to serving employers by helping them find the skilled workforce they need. Both groups can connect with each other through IowaWorks.gov, the state’s largest job bank.

Iowa Small Business Development Center

Established in 1981, America’s SBDC Iowa (SBDC) provides no cost, confidential, customized, professional business advice in all 99 Iowa counties to entrepreneurs and existing small businesses. We also present affordable workshops that teach practical skills and techniques, conduct research, provide comprehensive information services, and offer access to subject matter experts in a variety of fields.
