Crawl, Climb & Connect is an open gym play time created for our youngest Y members and their caregivers. Babies and toddlers can explore ninja mats and equipment while practicing balance, coordination, and gross motor skills. Children who are not yet walking are welcome to crawl and roll on the mats. This is a non-instructor-led program. Caregivers actively supervise their own child while enjoying social time with other parents. A perfect winter outing that gets everyone moving and connecting. We ask that siblings 6 & up do not attend, due to the safety of all students.

Give your child the confidence to navigate the wellness s floor safely! In this introductory class, youth ages 10-15 will learn how to complete age-appropriate workouts using free weights, resistance tools, bodyweight movements, and cardio equipment available at the Newton YMCA. Participants will be taught proper form, gym etiquette, spotting basics, and how to use select equipment that is safe for their age group. This class focuses on building a strong foundation: understanding how to warm up, plan a simple workout, use equipment correctly, and stay safe in the fitness center. All experience levels are welcome, from beginners to those already familiar with basic exercises. Each class will also include fun, movement-based fitness games that reinforce skills, build teamwork, and keep participants engaged and excited about staying active. By the end of the session, students will feel prepared and confident to get their workout in at the Y with independence and responsibility. The last two classes will screen kids, to see if they are ready to be onboarded for Egym. If prepared, Egym onboarding will be completed for the students on the last day of class.
