This is an unstructured time for young artists to foster creative endeavors and work with their peers. Materials will be provided at no additional cost, but the students are encouraged to bring along any projects that they are working on. United Way of Jasper County's Voices of Inspiration featuring Tyler Sullivan

When you think of Iowa, what are things that come to mind? Did you know that Iowa has 99 counties, and 101 courthouses? Tyler Sullivan has been to 97 out of the 99 counties, and has been to 1,298 cities across the state. He also runs at least one mile in all these communities and to make it more memorable, he forms a poem for each of the counties he visits. Last year he traveled to over 150 museums across the state. This year he challenges himself to visit 250 museums and attractions across the state. Come and listen to his adventures he has experienced across Iowa. Tyler will share his Iowa adventures on Thursday, Nov. 6, at DMACC Newton Campus. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is a freewill offering and open to all ages.

South Skunk Blues Society Live Music Featuring Matt Woods

Enjoy an evening of live blues music with Matt Woods at Murph and Mary's Pub in Legacy Plaza, 403 W. 4th St. N., Newton, on Friday, November 8, 2025, from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. This event is free to the public and hosted by the South Skunk Blues Society in partnership with Murph and Mary's Pub.

Women Veterans Luncheon

Join us as we honor and celebrate the incredibale women veterans of Jasper County! This special luncheon, hosted by RSVP of Jasper County and ISU Extension, will feauture speakers, recognition, and community connection! All female veterans are invited to attend -and sponsorship opportunities are available for local businesses and organizations wishing to show thier support! 

Just for Job-Seekers: Resume Support at the Newton Public Library

Work on your resume, edit your cover letter, or complete an online application during our job-seeker support hours. Our Public Services Librarian will provide dedicated support for job-seekers on most Wednesday afternoons. Veterans Breakfast

Start your morning by honoring those who've served. The Veterans Breakfast invites all local veterans and their families to enjoy a free breakfast, conversation, and community appreciation. Hosted by RSVP of Jasper County and ISU Extension, this event is a heartfelt thank-you to those who've dedicated their lives to service!

United Way of Jasper County's Voices of Inspiration featuring Sarah Pratt

United Way of Jasper County proudly welcomes Iowa State Fair Butter Cow sculptor Sarah Pratt as part of the fall 2025 VOICES OF INSPIRATION speaker series. Sarah's sculptures are among the most famous and iconic pieces of art from Iowa. Since 2006, Sarah has been the official butter sculptor for the Iowa State Fair. In 2025, Sarah created a butter cow sculpture for the Smithsonian. She will share the history of the butter cow, how she became a sculptor and the art of butter during "The Art of Butter" on Thursday, Nov. 13, at DMACC Newton Campus. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is a freewill offering and open to all ages.

The Farmer's Wife and Country View Barn Ribbon Cutting

Double the excitement, double the celebration!

Please join us as we celebrate one year on the farm with our members The Farmer’s Wife and Country View Barn!

After moving from her well-loved spot on the square, The Farmer’s Wife started anew and has found a new home on the farm — right in front of Bonnie's newest venture, Country View Barn. The historic barn, built in 1948 and lovingly restored, has been in Bonnie’s family for generations and is now open for weddings, graduations, birthdays, showers, and special gatherings.

We’ll mark this milestone with a double ribbon cutting ceremony — one for The Farmer’s Wife and one for Country View Barn — and celebrate a year of hard work, heart, and hometown charm.

Holiday Small Business Market

Make your way to The Flower Court to celebrate the start of the holiday season with us at our Holiday Small Business Market from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

Join us on Monday, November 17th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at Lucy’s Pet Pantry to get your family’s  pictures taken with 'the REAL' Santa – fur family included! Sitting fee is FREE with a freewill offering to the Pantry. Lucy’s  Pet Pantry is located at 129 E 12th St S, Newton.

Turkey Trot Race

The YMCA is excited to host our 15th Annual Turkey Trot Race on Saturday, November 22nd  from 9:00 – 10:30 am. Register to walk, jog, or trot at the YMCA front desk or online at www.newtonymca.org. Member  registration is $15, non-member is $20. (Kids 13 and under race for free with a paying adult!) Snag a long sleeve dry fit shirt  for $15-$18 if you register before November 3rd (New design this year!). Shorter route is back! Not sure if you want to walk  the full 5K? We’re offering a shorter, 1.5-mile route as an option for walkers or runners. Please mark your calendars for this  amazing event in support of your local YMCA and the lives we change on a daily basis. Wanting to volunteer for the event?  Contact sarah.pittman@newtonymca.org.
